Artist Statement
I use photography as a starting point for my work. The photographs inform and provide the basis of imagery for my printmaking. To reproduce my photographs, I generally use screen printing and image transfer techniques.
My current work is concerned with the presentation and representation of decay. I am heavily influenced by the motifs of deterioration such as corrosion and abrasion that highlight disregarded and unappreciated beauty. As a result, the patina of time, the main contributor of decay is a recurring theme that is raised by my work.
In a series of recent prints, I have been actively encouraging and allowing my work to undergo a process of decay. Therefore, each print has slowly degraded and taken an individual journey of deterioration. My prints are an experiment and interaction with the notion of chance and the random act, presenting decay and documenting a segment of time.
